Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Chill the Dough:

  1. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This helps the cookies hold their shape when baked.

Roll and Cut:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about ¼-inch thickness.
  3. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.

Bake the Cookies:

  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly soft; they will set as they cool.
  2. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Decorate (Optional):

  1. If desired, drizzle the cookies with melted chocolate or sprinkle with pink or red sprinkles for extra Valentine’s Day flair.
